Practicing techniques for house training your puppy can be an easy task for you and your pet. There are many dog owners who train their puppies using puppy pads at an early age to reinforce eliminating in specific place and then later on teach them to apply the behavior outdoors. Puppy pads are absorbent pads with leak proof backing which can also be used indoors to teach a puppy to eliminate in their designated spot instead of eliminating on the floor. Here are some tips you can use to when using puppy pads for your puppy’s training.
You know how eager is your puppy to please you. We also know that positive reinforcement is better when it comes to teaching him your expectations. When your puppy eliminate on the puppy pad, you can reinforce the behavior with affection and praise. You can talk to him in a very affirmative tone which he will be associated with using a pad. This will encourage him to use it more in the future.
You can also give your puppy the opportunity to use the bathroom often. You may notice that young puppies need to frequently eliminate. It is more likely after eating or drinking water or after awaking. Placing him on his pad at the perfect time can help him understand what you are expecting of him. Once you see him acting eliminating elsewhere, you need to say “no” to him and place him on his pad.
